Teresa Ruiz, AIA, LEED AP

Teresa Ruiz is a Principal and Studio Director for TCA’s Oakland office. She has 20 years of experience in Multifamily architecture. Teresa believes that architecture can have a positive impact on our community and that a well and thoughtfully designed building can bring the community together. She is passionate about inclusive and collaborative design process that welcomes input from all stakeholders.

In 2012, Teresa was the winner of the ENR California 20 under 40 award. Her work on Wexford Way & Carlow Court, while at BAR, received the Terwilliger Center for Housing Excellence Award.

Teresa serves as the Vice President of the Alameda Planning Board. She also serves as an executive board member for the ULI SF District Council. She is a member of the SF Local Residential Product Council and the ULI Technology and Real Estate Council, Gold flight, and previously served on the ULI Multifamily Council, Bronze flight. Teresa co- authored the ULI white paper on Micro Units, The Macro View on Micro Units.

Teresa graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from UC Berkeley, with a Master in Architecture from the University of Oregon. In graduate school, Teresa received the National AIA Scholastic Award. She is fluent in Mandarin Chinese, English, and conversational Spanish.

Lisa Majchrzak, AIA, LEED AP

Lisa Majchrzak is an Associate Principal, Studio Director at TCA with over 20 years of design experience. Lisa joined TCA in 2019, where she currently leads her team through the Entitlements process and Schematic Design. Through the process, she works closely with our designers, technical staff, and consultants to realize the client’s project vision and goals. She clearly and effectively communicates with clients, city and governmental agencies, and universities during project meetings and design presentations.

Prior to TCA, Lisa held the role of Senior Project Manager at Lowney Architecture in Oakland where she managed several multifamily housing projects moving them from initial concept through design documentation. Prior to Lowney, Lisa was a Senior Associate, Project Manager/Project Architect at BAR Architects located in San Francisco, California. In her role, Lisa led project teams from design through construction on custom residential, higher education, and hospitality projects. She managed project budgets, staffing, and was the main contact for both clients and consultants.

Lisa graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture degree. She continued her education with graduate work at The University of Oregon, earning a Master of Architecture degree. One of the highlights of her graduate education was spending a summer studying architecture in Rome and traveling throughout Italy. She is a licensed architect in the state of California.
